PSU

Just wondered if i can plug the PSU into the wall and not connect anything to the PC, turn the wall socket on and expect it to work? yknow just to test it before i go and plug in somthing that could fry my pc. Last PSU went boom with a white flash while plugged into the pc which sure as heck aint healthy for it. So can i just leave it on the floor plugged in and turn it on?

Yes and no. You can't just plug it in and expect it to work. You can just plug it in and short it with a paperclip or something and turn it on. Search the forum or Google for how to do this, or wait for someone who knows which wires to short. I don't know, so I won't even start suggesting which ones to try. 😉

At the 20 pin atx plug, jumper the green wire to any black, using a paperclip or something similar.

Not all psu's respond to this- some need to have a load on the 12v rail (yellow-black) and sometimes the 5v rail (red-black)
