I have lots of PSUs around,.. hate to toss, hate to buy another if I can reuse for small servers or misc systems,...

Does anyone know of a place in Phoenix area that will test PSUs or a cheap testing unit available to purchase?

You HAVE TO buy one of these, no joke:

http://www.buy.com/retail/prod...id=5039438&dcaid=17902

Make sure you get the PS-224 and not the PS-124. The PS-124 only has LED's that tell you a line is live.

This gizmo activates the PSU and gives you voltages. It even gives you the voltage and delay of the power good signal.

Not even a computer shop in Phoenix is going to tell you more because they'll probably just use the same kind of device and charge you labor. The next best thing is a load tester, but usually mom and pop computer shops don't have load testers (99.999% of the time). So unless you've got a buddy that works at BFG, PC Power or Corsair or something that can put your PSU's on a load tester as a favor... get the Coolmax tester. ;)

There is another way...

Purchase a load tester yourself. Only costs as much as a small car and you get to import it yourself from Taiwan. :D

Cool thanks for the info and link,... I had a feeling something like a load tester would be a bit out of reach,....

I think I will taking a look at getting one,.... it might be well worth it in the long run.

Course there was about 4 months worth of planning a prep before the build started. Between the donations and everything the system cost about $1200 just for the parts. Fortunaly for the donations i received it only cost me about $200 and then of course the $700 that was given to do the project.
