This is my first time building a system. I am making an FX-53 system, and I have some parts now but most of them should arrive later today. Since I'm going to get the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum I can't put everything together to make sure it all works. In the manual for my Thermaltake Purepower Butterfly 480W PSU it mentions that for "testing condition" the PSU must be connected to a load and the turn on the power. I've tried using it on my floppy drive and some fans (those are all I have that can be tested ATM), but I can never get anything to happen. So I was wondering if there is some setting inside the PSU for testing or I need a larger load (it uses a hard drive for example in the manual) or maybe my PSU is just dead? While I could connect things to my current system, I was hoping to test my PSU because once I get the motherboard, I don't want to be shipping broken parts back and waiting on new ones because I need to get this system running by mid-August at the latest.
