PSU started hissing. Can you recommend a new one?

So I've had this Corsair HX620 for almost 5 years now, pretty much 24/7; I guess not too bad but it wasn't cheap (~$160 in EU).

I'm looking into replacing it now before causes any damage to other components eventually, what would you recommend? I see people usually go Corsair or Seasonic, any thoughts? My system:

i5 2500K @ 4Ghz
16 GB ram
1 SSD, 3 HDD, 1 DVD
CC watercooling on the cpu
5 fans
Geforce GTX 660
PCIe soundcard

I don't plan on ever going SLI or any major GPU upgrade, so no need to overdo it.

HX series have 5 year warranty, at least in the US. Check your warranty, you may be able to get it replaced under warranty.

Are you sure that's not just 2 years through the retailer? Maybe if you contact Corsair? You might be able to get it repalced within warranty by providing Corsair with a proof of purchase

Decided to get this in the end for $116

http://www.corsair.com/enthusiast-s...d-650-watt-high-performance-power-supply.html

Registered with corsair to send a ticket about the hx, but they seem slow at replying; also where I bought the PSU they only store order history for 3 years, PSU is from around Jan 2009. I'll still try to see if Corsair can replace it but then I have to wait etc, meh, pain in the ass all in all.

Hope the TX will be good :)

It's a bearing or a thrust washer in the fan. If out of warranty, unplug the power cord and remove sticker on fan to apply a drop of light machine oil. There may be a rubber plug under the sticker.

I was just going try that after your suggestion, but then the hissing stopped :O
I left the computer off overnight, then pulled the psu, opened it (I had already opened it before to clean off the dust, so I guess warranty is off anyway), powered it up and started a game to pull some power and wait for the hiss, to then unplug the fan and see, but.. somehow it's completely gone now oO

The hissing wasn't recent, but more like started a bit the last few weeks but most of the time it was fine, then last few days it got really bad which is when I posted here and decided to do something about it. Also during these days I mounted the fan grid wrong so the fan was stuck after re-assembly, and the hissing was still there.

I'm rather baffled now with the noise gone, and the new PSU ordered through Amazon with cancellation still maybe possible.. ah well, I'll close the psu again and see what I do. Thanks for the replies.
