I have a server board that takes an 8-pin CPU power connector, but I only have PSU's that have the standard 4-pin CPU power connector.

Can I use just the 4pin power connector? Or do I need a PSU that has all 8 pins.

It's running dual 2.66GHz Xeon CPU's. 7020 I think...

CPU-Z shows Code Name: Prestonia and Package: mPGA-604

8-pin Example

4-pin Example

Edit:
It looks like it works, but I'm not sure how stable it is.

All of the 12V wires and the ground wires on the 4 or the 8-pin are connected together. The multiple wires are to reduce the current that each wire has to carry and to stay within the rating of the contacts per wire. You can get an adapter that will alow you to run another 4 pins off a drive conntecor but IDK if the same shell will work on either set of 4 pins. Just watch how warm that connector gets. If it seems like it's getting too hot, try using an adapter along with the P4-12V connector to spread the load. You just don't want your connectors to melt down like used to happen when CPUs were run off the 5V rail.

Of course, it's best to have a PSU with an 8-pin connector like the Enhance ENP-5150GH at eWiz.com (one of the best PSUs you can get for that money) or most server-rated PSUs.

@zepper,

Thanks for the tip about the Enhance ENP-5150GH.

I always wonder about that one.
