Looking for a PSU, max $100. I'm not picky about brands, but I am picky about noise. I haven't been into PSUs lately, so I need you guy's help. I was looking into the Antec NeoPower 480, or is Enermax better? Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Happy Holidays!

For now, until I save up more money, its just going to be used for an ECS K7VTA3, Sempron 2400+, Radeon 7000. I destroyed my previous motherboard while trying to make some mods to the CPU socket so I could fit my Arctic Cooling Copper Silent 2L onto it. I had just finished mounting the HSF to make sure it fit (w/o AS5), I had applied AS5, put it back, and in the process of doing so, I accidentally chipped off that thing that was under the one of the tabs on the CPU socket. (That was the whole reason I had to reduce the size of the CPU socket tab).

I hope to eventually get either a Socket 775 or A64.

Certainly power supplies generate noise. But the PSU has never been the focus of my noise-reduction efforts.

There is a cumulative vibration of components transmitted through the case: CPU fan through heatsink, motherboard, standoffs -- to the case; fans through their mountings to the case; hard disks through the cages through the case. Somebody is going to sneer at me for this, but I'm satisfied I've been able to reduce vibration from the PSU with a silly-cone grommet where it bolts onto the case.

My ALLIED AL-B500E doesn't seem to have noisy fans, but it is a modestly priced, modestly featured PSU.
