PSU Question

I've purchased a Tyan Thunder K8W board for use with 2 Opteron 246s. I purchased a POWER SUPPLY ANTEC TRU550EPS12V ATX and noticed that the SSI Workstation 6-Pin (AGP Pro) connection only has 4 of the 6 pins coming out of the PSU. The two that are missing are pins 3 (+12V2) and 6 (+12V2). Have I purchased the wrong type of PSU? I made sure to get a EPS12V supply but now I'm unsure. I have all the parts here, just waiting on a case.

Sooo tempted to put this together on static paper and get everything up and running before i get the case and then just mount it all knowing ahead of time that it all works. Anybody ever assemble a computer caseless?

I've since read the manual and it states how the 6pin connector isn't necessary but can anybody explain to me the purpose of this 6 pin power cable?

yup i have all of them on my motherboard, regarding the top 6 pin connector my psu only has a 4pin connector (atx12v). To be specific i'm missing pins 3 and 6. The other 2 connections are fine.

Yup, I always test mobo, cpu (w/HS+F), ram and vid card out of the case before I install the mobo. (of course I hook up the monitor, mouse and keyboard too). I wanna make sure the new parts actually work b4 installing in case. Put the mobo on a phonebook next to the case and hook up the power switch. Eliminates possibility of case shorts and avoids time spent putting in/taking back out if something is not working properly.

Alright sweet, i'll make sure to do that before mounting the board. is there a way to start everything up without the power switch from a case?
