PSU plug-in for 6800

What are the requirements for plug ins for the Geforce 6800? I believe you plug it in directly to the PSU right? Well ok I have 2 dvd/cd drives. I also have 2 Hard-drives. Those 4 drives take up all 4 connectors on most (all?) power supplies! Since my new Vidcard needs to plug into it, is there any way to add more, or split connectors? What are the risks, and possible problems in splitting or adding plugs (if its even possible)?


PS. Possibly getting an Antec tx1050b case (500watt PSU is included). So i want to know if I should reconsider because of PSU.
 
A 500watt Antec should be a great PSU.

You can get a y-splitter to get another molex connection for you.
 
If you buy a 6800 new they ussually come with Y adapters anyways. Also if you do have to use the Y adapter attach it to the CD-ROM drives not the HDD's.
 
yeah its AGP. I'll probably use the Y splitter like suggested. But is there any problem in doing this? will it slow down the 6800 or the cd drives that i split?

What power supply is it? If it doesn't have enough amps on the 12v rail, it won't make any difference how many connectors it has.

that is plenty of power.

my system, has a pentium 2.8 dual core, 2 hard drives and a dvdr , + 6800 on a 300watt atx 2.0 and its fine.

you could probably easily run 2 7800gtxes let alone just a 6800.
