My friend has a computer that when it is turned on the lights on the mouse and keyboard go on but no other signs of life occur - no fans or motherboard lights go on. Does this sound like the psu has gone out or do the lights on the keyboard and mouse indicate that some other piece of hardware probably died? Thanks.

Not knowing more, I wouldn't rule it out, but I'd say something else. Or not...odd that the fans don't even come on.
