PSU Making Weird noise PLEASE HELP

Hey I'm building a new computer and as soon as I turn on the powersupply button in the back it makes a high pitch noise, hard to describe, it sounds almost like a jet is taking off haha. The computer itself doesnt turn on and it appears everything is connected properly. The PSU is an Antec SmartPower 450w. Any ideas?

Thank you so much.

It's dead.

My Antec Smart Powe 500 (In which I just made a thread last night on) died.

Please visit it and vote. 😛

no it was actually a Chieftec but its obviously not the psu. I cant figure out what it is.. does anyone have a clue?

Could be something wrong with your AC input.

What else is on the same breaker? Try another outlet?

sounds like you got a short somewhere. Does it do the same thing if you disconnect all the wires from everything inside your computer? You might have a bad component - a friend's hard drive recently developed a short in its PCB which caused exactly what you are describing

Yeah everything unplugged besides power to the motherboard just makes a buzzing sounds in the PSU. Its very weird.
