Psu for high end sli/crossfire config

I'm looking for a good 850 Watt psu for sli/crossfire configuration for either a 670-680/7950-7970. Yes I will be ocing the CPU aswell plus the gpu what should I go with?

Where are you located? Is your case a mid tower or a full tower (cable length requirements)?

I've had pretty good experiences with Corsair, so I would suggest the AX850. Alternatively, an equivalent Seasonic (it's probably even the same internal design) would also be a good choice.

What is your budget, and what type of performance do you want out of your PSU?

I'd say 600 bucks.. right now I've got a ax850 and a gtx 670 in my cart at newegg but Im waiting to get gigabytes version. I want something to were when i buy my new case ill have enough Watts to run a few 120mm fans, sli oc, CPU oc, ram oc, the full bang really. Plus a few hdds currently I'm running 4. Then in a few months ill end up jumping to 2011 socket.

AX850 is twice the price of the XFX 850W although both units are made by Seasonic and are just as reliable. What AX850 gets you is efficiency, modularity and passive fan at low loads. But having a super quiet fan hardly makes sense in a dual GPU setup, and you get high efficiency and modularity with an XFX 850W XXX edition ($130, $105 AR)... So I can't recommend the AX850, it just costs too much for what it offers.

Wait. Your budget is 600$ for a PSU? Am I missing something? If not, in that case, get the Seasonic Platinum 860w or if you would consider,, the Seasonic X 650w Gold

With most games, you'll probably pull around 230-350w which should put you in a good efficiency range. At 50% of PSU max the efficiency will be ~ 93% So if you are pulling 430w then you hit the curve. Like stated before though, as computer parts evolve they are becoming more efficient meaning a huge 860w psu is like going epeen. But to me, a PSU lasts a long time as does your favorite chassis/case. The ripple suppression and clean power numbers on this thing are great too.

Let me say this as-well, you can get a great PSU for cheaper though. Check out JonnyGuru.com for a plethora of accurate PSU reviews.

Just read more reviews before spending that kind of money. Honestly I would buy it, but better to educate yourself on what's good for your money first 😉

Good Luck 🙂
