PSU for GTX 260 Core 216

I'm trying to decide between these power supplies for a single GTX 260 core 216.

PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W

CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W

CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W

I have a 500 watt PSU currenty but i dont think that will be enouph for a GTX 260, Can I get by with a 750 watt or do I need a higher watt PSU.

My system specs

P965 mobo
current video card 8800 GTS
2 gb ram
Xtreme gamer sound card

Your 500W should have no problem running your system, depending on the quality of said PSU. Could you link us to the one you have?

If you buy a new PSU any quality 750w would power that rig even with 2 GTX260s and a bunch of peripherals. No need to step up to a 1000w

Agreed. A quality 500W with a recent design, so that most of its power is delivered to the 12V rails, would easily be sufficient.

but isn't the minimum power supply for a GTX 260 500 watts ? I thought these cards needed a lot of power especially during gaming but if not I'll just buy the video card.
I don't know what kind of power supply it is, because it came with a pre-built system.

Not all 500w PSU's are created equal. You'll have to find out what brand/model your PSU is. If you were going to install a new PSU you'd have to dig that far in anyway so might as well find out what it is and what the +12V rail says for amps/A.

/agree with the others.

I'm using a Corsair 520HX and running a GTX260 core 216. Its running great. Even if it turns out your current PS is not that great and you want/need to replace it you can get something in the 500 watt range as long as its a good quality one.
