psu for external drive enclosure

i have bought this IDE to firewire board.

I now use the molex connectors of the psu in my case to power the two harddrives, but i would like to move the two disks to their own external enclosure, together with a case fan to keep the disks cool. so i would need some sort of psu for the drives ... anyone an idea where i can find that sort of psu, i have to be able to turn it on and off seperately from the pc.
I was thinking about a 220V ac -> 12V dc 2A powerblock i have laying around, but i was wondering if harddrives actually use the 5V ? (the drives each use max 350mA)

any ideas would be welcome 🙂

Why not just get a really cheap psu, and short the ATX connector, so it will run? I can't personally remember how to do it, or I would tell you how, but there are quite a few people on this forum who've done it, and they say it's easy to do, and works well. Ah, I found a link explaining how to do it. Here it is. Hope it helps.
