i've read in a few places that a PSU with a 24 pin connector is required especially with overclocking. I plan on overclocking with this board with an athlon 64 3200+ venice and one 7800gt, would the OCZ Powerstream 520W be enough for the system to be stable, or do I have to find a PSU with a 24pin connector instead of an adapter?

What..the OCZ 520w Powerstream works great with my DFI SLI-DR...it is a native 24 pin psu...you can unclip the 4pin for a 20pin mobo

Yes , it will work...

I have the Powerstream 520w in my 3700+ rig. It works fine... It does have a native 24pin connection.. You just slide the extra 4 pins next to the 20pin plug
they hook together...

It has a nice finish... :)

A psu has to have dual 12 volt rails to be atx 2.0 compliant. Only the 600 watt powerstream has dual 12 volt rails. I'm not saying it won't work...just that it didn't work in my case and is not atx 2.0

read specs

It's ATX2.0. The ModStream had a 20+4 pin connector before the ATX12V2,0 standard was even out (or so I beleive), but I don't think they found out about the dual rail specifications in time. Besides not all ATX2.0 psus are dual rail compliant

No it doesn't. A psu has to have dual rails in order to be ATX 12V 2.0 compliant, which falls under the ATX 2.0 spec.

All OCZ psu's are ATX 2.0. The 600W Powerstream happens to also be ATX 12V 2.01, hence the dual rails.

ATX 2.0 and ATX 12V 2.x are not necessarily the same thing.

Don't sweat it, a lot of people don't (I didn't for the longest time either...took a while for me to get is straight too). It doesn't help that psu manufacturers and resellers oftentimes market them in confusing ways either.

Does anyone have any idea as to why the Powerstream 520 would not power my DFI or Asus sli boards? As soon as i installed the enermax everything worked as it should. Possibly a faulty psu? Thx Plum

on the DFI did you have all 4 connectors attached

I was actually running my DFI SLI-DR with only the 24pin and 12v 4pin...no 4pin molex or floppy

Did you make sure there were no shorts...also may sound stupid but were the plug in tight..my 24pin was not in properly and I had some issues

I tried to get it running with only the graphics card, one hard drive, and one dvd-rom. I didn't have the molex for the sli connected as I presently have one 7800 gtx. It would freeze at the mobo splash screen. It did post though.

Probably faulty, but make sure all 3 lights on teh back of your powerstream (the side facing out) are green. If not, adjust them so that they're green instead of red.

I have the OCZ Powerstream PSU but I have the 450 watt model. I just got the Ultra-D motherboard. Am I going to have to buy a new psu? I'm not running SLI but I plan on trying to overclock in the future.

naw, you're good to go, very good to go. the most improtant is the amps, dfi throws in the 480w to cover their butts.

so long as you have 24a on the 12v, which you do, you'll be fine.

What are you talking about, I have an OCZ Powerstream 420, it's a 24-pin native psu, and it works great on my OC'd DFI Ultra-D. Unless the Powerstream 520 is somehow inferior to the 420, I see no reason why it shouldnt work.

Why is getting a new PSU always the answer to getting a new mobo??

He`s just fine with the PSU he has!!

Unless his present PSU is defective for some reason!
