Hi guys...

I am presently running a setup of an x2 3600+ (65W Brisbane) and a 7600gt with a basic 690g motherboard (gigabyte ga-ma-69vm-s2)

psu is 400w generic with 17A on +12v.

Can it handle the new 9600gt which draws 60w max as compared to around 35-40 W for the 7600gt ??

after all 12*17= 204 watts, more than sufficient to power my entire system off the 12V rail ??

what's ur take ????

The 17A is really borderline, and being a "generic" doesn't assure me either. The problem with generic PSUs are that they don't quite put out the power they claim to on their label.

Yeah, get a name-brand PSU, you will be much happier. Plus, it will give you headroom to overclock that sucker.
