ive heard that plugging a fan into the mobo can damage it, and also that alot of people like to plug their fans into their power supplies. how do you plug a fan into the power supply?
 
High power fans have been known to kill mobo fan headers. Plugging in the average 80mm isn't a problem.

To plug a 3-pin fan to a PSU 4 pin connector you'll need an adapter like this.
