PSU fan bearing noise

I have a new system I just completed about a month and a half ago. So far everything has been running great up untill about a week or so ago. I noticed a weird buzzing/weak clicking noise comming from the case. I fiddled around a bit, testing case fans, etc and located the problem to be a fan in my ThermalTake Pure Power 420w PSU. One of the fan bearing is apparently crappy and at random times will start making that noise. Usually a few taps on the PSU itself will get it to stop, but it's beginning to interfere more often, and is just a general nuisance I don't want.

Is this a sign of a problem that will only get worse with time? Should I be concerned at all? Everything else relating to the PSU is fine, rail voltages are perfect, so there's no other problems. I'm just curious if it is going to become a bigger problem later on.

A month old is too soon for a fan to start crapping in my book. I had a ABIT NF7-S (those are known for their crappy north bridge fans) do the same thing. And like yours with a tap on the case it would stop. I had it for 5 or 6 more months, it never got better, but it did get louder and more frequent. Might want to talk with the manufacture on this, surly it is still in warrenty, if not may want to crack it open and replace it.

I actually just found out it's not the PSU fan, but my Intel retail HSF. So it's defiantly a bit more serious than I originally thought. I can't register the product with Intel anymore, so I doubt I can make a warrenty claim for a new stock HSF, so any suggestions on a replacement? I really want a new retail HSF, as I don't overclock or mod my computer in any way, so I don't need an extravagant HSF, but I'm not sure if I can obtain one.

Honestly, the aftermarket ones are better solutions. And if you are wondering about ease of install and fit, they do both great. I really like this one for a great cheaper HSF. Plus it fits the stock retailing bracket perfectly. There are better ones out there, but if you aren't going to OC and to want to spend the 30-40 bucks for one of the good ones, just grab this.

I know they are not the most popular brand, but I have more than a few of thier products and am more than satisfied. Good company, great products, and really really nice people to deal with.
