So My corsair HX750 started going bad recently (heard pops, crackles and the works), luckily I had a spare 500w back up psu for my system but I had to turn off all my OC . Fortunately my components came through or I would have just....you get the picture

My PC(OCed)
i7 960 4.0 ghz
3x4GB Gskill Sniper Ram
Asus Rampage III Formula
Sapphire HD 7950 oc
Asus Xonar Essence STX PCI-E

There are a couple deals on corsair psu that have the promo discounts, but I'm not factoring out other vendors as well. Anyone have suggestions for what I should get? I will be ocing them back to their previous configurations.

Is 750w overkill? or can a 650w work just as well?

From what I've seen no-one has a bad word to say about Seasonic psu's so you could go for the Seasonic X-650 which has a gold rating and gets highly favourable reviews. It is fairly expensive at $130 but looking at your specs you've obviously spent a fair amount on it and this is probably within your reach.

Id agree, 750 is overkill unless you have plans for the future to get multiple cards or some crazy ocing. I am guessing when you say it started going bad, its no longer under warranty?

I am not sure what to recommend but sticking with Seasonic or Delta built units is usually pretty smart. I tend to stick with Corsair, Antec, Seasonic for my PSU's. In fact, I dont think ive ever owned any other than those yet.
