PSU CHOICE: Top Power, Future Power or Antec

I need a new PSU. My 300watt antec can't hold it's own anymore. I need a new PSU asap, and I don't have much money at the moment..

I have heard great things about the Top Power 420watter from Directron

but I can also get a Future power 400 from here or here

The part that worries me about the FP is the 30 amp 5v rail rating(my antec 300 is rated at 30).
The Top power has a 42amp 5volt rail

As for the antec, it will run about 90 with shipping, and we all know how good it is.

What to do?

What Antec are you considering? If the PP412X, you can get it from buy.com for $68+sh.

Is the Antec 400 wort the 10$ more than the Top Power(which has higher amperage and over all wattage)?

I'd say go with the Antec. I have experience with Future Power products (albeit not PSUs). We use FP monitors at work and thus far I have blown up five of them. Just poof! they died. I'm afraid to use any of their products now.

I have no experience with the TP PSU, but even if its a decent unit I'd still buy the Antec just becuase it is a name I know and trust.

I think I've heard around these forums that the Top Power PSU is very quiet. You might wanna do a search on that.

I have heard from a few people in the last few minutes that the antec 400wattis VERY loud. Considering the higher wattage, and lower noise; would the TT be a better choice for 10$ less?

Enermax has too much voltage deviation. In my opinion, Top Power and Antec are equally fine, both better than Future Power.

Go with Antec. Anand's test of power supplies says enough. You won't be disappointed.
