Check out the reviews at jonnyguru.com. Awesome stuff, and his testing methology is top notch... 🙂

thanks, I found the PSU I want it is from PC Power and Cooling, it is a 750w as I will go with just one 8800GTX for right now, and perhaps upgrade to a 1000w PSU later and a second GTX

Why spend money on a 750W Power supply now if your going to eventually have to upgrade to a 1000W according to what you want to spend? Just get the 1000W PSU and a single 8800GTX. Then when you want to get the 2nd.

Got any actual experimental data on these outrageous numbers? I mean how much power can a microprocessor use? I bet you any quality 600W would run them fine.

To reiterate the above point - I have just read in several places that the power consumption of this card is at most 140W on load. The last page of this review for example:

http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/bfg8800gts/10.html

shows the entire C2D/2GB/8800GTS system using a maximum of 250W on load. Add another 140 (tops) for the second card and you get 390W, add another 100 just for safety and future proofing, and you will see that good 500W will work fine as long as it has the amps on the 12V rail.

What is the problem with getting a good PSU? So what if it is more than he might need. It's still going to be in the upper area of usage, so the efficiency shouldn't be greatly affected....

Price? Not everyone is made of money, I'm just trying to help.

well since Nvidia says I can use the PC Power 750 Silencer or the Tt 850 I will go with those as they are not 600 dollars and I know both of those will fit in my chasis

waste of cash if you ask me what can a single 8800GTS/GTX not do ATM?

Tt is Thermaltake right? stop before you make any buys obviously if you thought about using one of those you don't know what your doing. Sit on it till you are confident to make your choices do your research

Well I know about both PSUs, and if I do not need to purchase a 1000w PSU then I am not going to, it is just a debate over which one I want most likely I will go with the PC Power even though the ThermalTake has modular cable management
