I have a simple Presario SR1610nx that has a 250W PSU. It came with the following:
80GB SG IDE HD
CDR/DVD-ROM
256MB RAM
Sempron 3200 (1.8ghz on a Socket 939 MSI board)
Onboard sound and video
I am adding the following to the above:
1GB Ram (next day or so)
DVD R/RW DL (next day or so)
160 SG IDE HD (dropped it in yesterday, no issues)
Can I expect the 250W PSU to handle this? Is there a PC wattage calculator somewhere that will help me to understand the electricity use of the components in a PC?
Thanks for any feedback...BTW this is mainly for Home office, web work, surfing

I may have just answered my own question....seems that I might be OK for now....the following: eXtreme PSU Calculator v1.2 seems to do a decent job of helping you to identify the needs for a system. HTH
