hi, what do you do when a power cable on a PSU is to short? can you buy extensions for any cord on a PSU?

Yep, you sure can.
Make sure you get the correct cable for your motherboard/PSU.

Beware, those cheaply made extensions can sometimes drop one or more of your voltages out of spec.
Best way is to sell your PSU here in FS/T or on eBay and get one with proper length cables for your system. Or cut and splice into each lead an extra length of same-size wire. But that's a PITA...
