Good morning Anantech Forums.
I've got an interesting little problem that I can't seem to resolve.
Current setup:
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
AMD FX-8320
16 gig DDR3-1866 G.Skill
OCZ 750watt PSU
Gigabyte R9-280xOC REV2
Running windows 8.1, all latest drivers.
I'm using current CCC drivers, but for this issue I also tried the beta 14.1 drivers (I'll explain below). No OC, everything is on default settings.
I have my vid card running HDMI to a powered HDMI splitter, and then from the splitter to my TV.
I noticed when I shut my system off, I could still hear a fan going. I opened up my case and saw that the fan on the PSU was still on and I could hear a slight buzz noise. The OCZ PSU is a modular psu so I checked all my connections to make sure everything was seated correctly.
After a bit I moved my computer to my work bench and plugged it directly into my backup LCD. I started it up and shut it down a few times and the problem vanished. The computer was powering completely down, and no activity coming from the PSU. I played around with it a couple more times before hooking it back up to my TV.
What I noticed was when I have the system hooked up to the HDMI splitter, the psu stays on just enough to keep the fan powered and to emit a low buzzing noise. As soon as I disconnect from the HDMI splitter and run driectly to source the problem resolves itself.
Any suggestions on what is causing this? For the time being, I kinda need to run through this splitter.
