PSU brands

Kabob

Lifer
I was just wondering if these brands were good quality PSUs. Lemme know what you all think about each:

Aspire
E-Power
MGE
Rosewill
Seasonic
Sparkle Power Inc.
Vantec
Zippy

I've already heard that OCZ, Fortron, and Enermax are great, but most are pretty damn expensive. I've heard mixed reviews about Thermaltake. My roommate got a 420w Thermaltake, and it's got a pretty weak 12v rail (18 volts...)

Thanks!

I've read that Seasonic and Sparkle Power Inc. are good. I don't know about the rest.

I think these days if you can afford anything with dual 12v rails -- get it, it should be good
yeah & I wouldn't mind people listing something that's maybe not as good as a OCZ or enermax as they are REALLY expensive where I am $100 US + equivalent

OK, quick question. Dual 12v rails...how do they work? Does one go directly to the CPU and the other to the other stuff or what?? And what's a good voltage to have on each rail if you've got dual 12v rails? I saw a PSU that said 12v1: 18A 12V2: 18A or something like that, so I figured there must be two 12v rails. Inform me plz!!

Not quite sure how dual rails work -- i'm no expert -- I suspect that when 1 line is topped out it will just use the second
your example would mean a total of 36a on the 12v rail (18 +18) which would be excellent --- but expensive ?

If your building a budget rig, Sparkle power supplies are solid.

They don't offer the features, or performance of Enermax, but they are reliable.

If I want to run an Athlon 64-Mobile 3200+ and an X800 XT PE, how many amps do I need in the 12v rail??

Any idea??

I got a 430w Antec true-power. Im generally dissappointed with the readings I get from it, as they aren't much better than the generic 400w CompUSA PSU I was using. But, it does run my overclocked A64-6800gt system just fine.

But, Im thinking the generic Compusa brand wouldve run it just fine also, since the readings are so much alike.
