You guys suggesting RMA to Asus... uh... if it were Asus's materials & workmanship at fault, then that would be a valid concept (for the original owner, anyway). wafflesandsyrup, maybe homeowners' or renters' insurance would have coverage for this type of loss though?

Yeah MB,

. The same type of character noted here as was on display in New Orleans... Now RMAing the PSU and requesting that they replace the mobo that thier PSU took out, well that's another story - assuming the PSU is still in warranty.

. IAC, just noticed the new Silverstone Strider 400W PSU, $67.50 @ Newegg. Looks like a lot for the money. Active PFC, full range voltage, 29A on the +12. Only drawback seems to be that it's not as quiet as some and the split +12 rail. http://www.enhance.com.tw has some other new models with 36A on the +12. Hope Silverstone rebadges some of those too...

*gasp* Zepper, you're not using the Pengiun avatar anymore! :Q Must... reprogram... brain... 😕

My AXP 1700+ system ran on a generic RAIDMAX 350w for over 2 years. System instablility, weird whining noises from the PSU. I popped in a Dual 12v Enermax 450w and everything was as good as new.

Point of my story is sorry to hear that waffles, I think you were even one of the peeps to recommend me the Enermax before I blew up my system.

Sorry to hear it man.

Yeah MB,

Gotta change things around every now and then. This is the one I started with and there are too many penquins - it's starting to look like Antarctica around here...

Yep, you can skimp on almost anything for your computer but in the name of all that's holy, don't skimp on the freaking PSU. Many years back, my brother lost pretty much a whole computer to a fried PSU.

I just had this Sparkle FSP300-60PN blow up last week in a clients machine(basic office apps/surfing use) after being in use for only four months or so. 🙁
