PSU blew out.

Thermaltakes are ok, Aerocools are terrible. Simple reliable PSUs like Antec and Enermax aren't too pricey, Tagans, Fortrons are all included. Fancy PSUs like OCZs and PCP&Cs are nice but expensive and aren't really necessary. What's your budget and your system?
 
Dunno my budget yet, but here's my sys:

AMD 64 3200
Asus K8V deluxe
9800Pro 256MB edtion (with a 6800U coming soon...)
2 SATA Hard drives (possibility of a 3rd one soon)
1 IDE drive
1 DVD-rom drive
1 CD burner
1 FLoppy
2x 120 mm lighted fans (came with my Tsunami tower)
1x 80mm fan (also came with my Tsunami tower)

Can't think of anything else really.
 
I sold my Enermax 480W Coolergiant and have a $70 Sparkle coming for its replacement. 🙂

The Coolergiant was a fine PSU but I wanted to try a few others just to see what sort of
different OCing results each produce.

Basically its an FSP550 variant ..defiantely the least expensive that I have found.

The same PSU comes in a dual 12V rail configuration as well and it is sold under the FSP, Sparkle and Aopen names that I know of , I am sure there are more.

Its a server grade PSU (EPS12V) so if you have a 20 pin mobo you'll need a 24>20 pin adapter.


 
If I end up liking the Sparkle then I am probably going to just be an FSP Group fanboy and leave it at that.

If not well then I will probably have to do some more research and figure out if FSP makes Zippy PSUs ..if not then Zippy it is. I am nearly 100% certain that FSP makes PC Power and Cooling PSUs so I dont have any interest in paying $200 for a $70 Sparkle. 😀


 
Tagan, Seasonic, Forton/Sparkle, PCP&C, and Zalman are the best you can get IMO.

PCP&C are based on Zippy/Emacs designs for the Turbo Cool and Seasonic's for the Silencers.

Its that is a fact then FSP makes all of them but the Silencers.

I think the Aspire ones are made by L&C. What about some of the Enermax models? I haven't had a chance to buy one for a while, but my recollection is that they tend to have lots of drive plugs (good for your drive habit there 😀), rather long cables, and healthy 12-volt amperage for powering all those drive motors, CPU power circuitry and whatever the next-gen video card will be in your system.

 
I have an Enermax Whisper II 460w PSU and it's great. I love how you can adjust the fan speed on all the Enemax PSUs to where it's nearly inaudible. The cable are long, the rails are high, and it's stable as hell. My only complaint is that none of the cables are sleaved (except for the 20pin) but I sleeve all my cables myself using electrical tape 😛

Does it have a large number of drive plugs like my old 365-series did? Bonus points if you give us an exact plug count 🙂

 
The Aspire 550's seem to be pretty good, nick seems to really like his.
I have a Antec Neo 480w and love it, really stable...haven't had any probelms yet!
