Hey there,

I know Antec is a good brand, but someone here mentioned
the Channel Well that was on the Xoxide.com website.
I was comparing notes and the
Antec SL400 I can pick-up at CompUSA for $79.99
Channel Well at Xoxide.com is $44.99

Now, many of you will think, Hey that's easy...
but I was comparing specs and this Channel Well looks pretty
up to snuff and 'stuff......

I also heard something that Channel Well is the OEM
manufacturer of ANTEC....go fig
rolleye.gif

Here's the spec of both:
ANTEC SL400 Watt: ANTEC SL 400

CHANNEL WELL 420 Watt: Channel Well 420
BTW- You have to click the top link ATX12V and go to CWT ATX420V...the page won't link correctly

Channel Well has +5V & +3.3V = 245 Watts according to website
Antec has +5V & +3.3V = 240 Watts according to website

Anyone got any answers. My deciding factors are this
1) Quality- If both PSUs give about the same quality in power
then I would be more inclined to dive with a channel well
and save 30+ $$$
2) If the Antec is better then I would gladly pay the 30+ $$ and
save myself a headache.
3) If possible I want to have it for the weekend...I could pick up
the Antec at compusa and do that but, like I said if I can save
$30 I would rather do that and have it shipped cheaply...

Thanks for any information given in advance........

I would actually go for an Antec Truepower 430 if I were you. Better power and quieter. They can be had for $66 shipped from amazon.com after a $10 coupon that is around if you look for it. I have heard that Channel Well is also a manufacturer for Antec, but I dont know if this is still true. Anyone know? Personally, I would go for the Antec, but I guess I am just a name brand kind of person.

Yep, from all indications the Smart Power line is no different from the standard Channel Well PSUs, however, although the True Power line is made by CWT as well, they don't share many of the same components or features. There's a site I found that opened both up. The True Powers look very quality on the inside, not quite as impressive as PC Power&Cooling, but right up there.

Could you please post a link to that site if you have it.

Thanks,

Sorry don't have it handy here at work, but it would be just as fast if you ran a google search on the part or model number and "CWT" or "channel well"

Yeah, I would just the 430w TruPower. It's a superb PSU. Nothing wrong with the Channel Well either though. they make great PSUs. Incidently, Antec doesn't actually make their own PSUs. They relabel them. Channel Well used to manufacturer the 300w pp303x and 400w pp403x for Antec. I "think" Herolchi is the current supplier of non-TruPower PSU for Antec now. At least for the 350w model pp352x anyway.
