PSU and shielding?

Hey guys,

Just wondering what would be the affects of removing part of a PSU enclosure(about the size of a 80mm fan)? Will this create interference or noise? (EM fields, etc.)

Thanks.

should be allright. there was a thread regarding this a couple days ago i think

consensus was that basically you should be more worried about zapping yourself then about EMI..so be careful

I saw an article not too long ago where the guy removed the sheet metal casing from his psu and replaced it one made of metal "mesh". Talk about open air flow 🙂 He claimed it dropped his case temps by 2 degrees.
