PSU and Electrical Outlet Question

Hi all,
I just ordered a Dell XPS720 with all the standard options and noticed it had a 750W PSU on it. Eventually I plan on maxing out to 4 HD's but that's about it.
I guess my question would be does a standard 750W supply like the one I'm getting run the risk of tripping a breaker with high power consumption? I'm not too familiar with that end of PC's. I realize it won't be using all 750W but I'm curious.

Thanks for any help..

You don't have to worry about tripping a breaker. A 750W PSUY fully loaded is only pulling half of what the typical US power outlet provides when on a 15A breaker. You wall outlet is able to supply about 1800W before tripping the breaker. I'm sure the system comes no where near using even 600W from that PSU and adding a few more HDDs to the system isn't going to push it that much harder anyway.

Pretty much what mpilchfamily said.
Only thing I can add is what else is on that same circuit ?
I had an issue where an outlet shared the pc, monitor, with a laser printer.
Laser printers can draw quite a bit on startup.
That combined with the pc was too much.

As a crude guide, Power = Volts x Amps. Therefore:

750 watts / 117 volts = 6.41 amps

It's crude for a number of reasons because other factors are involved in calculating actual AC power, including the nature of the load and the design and efficiency of your power supply, but it tells you that, under a peak condition, your system could draw over 6 amps from your line.

As Modelworks said it depends on what other items are on that circuit\ brecker ,not only you but for any one with big money put into a high end electronics ,I would turn off the brecker that feeds the CPU and go around the house to see what is not working ,plugs \lights and what ever ,as most codes allow 15 outlets per brecker or fuse .now if one of the plugs is the one your partner plugs the vacum cleaner into when your gaming , you could have a problem,it will be like a brown out,so rewire the plug or offer to vacum the house after your finished. :roll:hehe.
