PSU advive needed for upgrade

OK...

I have decided to upgrade.

I will be getting a quad core cpu. Either the K8L (means waiting) or the new Intel. I have used the calculators but to be honest the Amps/Rails have me more concerned than the wattage so I really would like some opinions.

I will be getting a 8800GTX.(To that there will be 3 HDD's, 2 PCI devices, 2 USB 2.0 devices, and 1 DVD Burner, 4 120mm fans, and 2 1GB DDR2 sticks)

I will not be going SLI at this time and I would like to know if people here think these PSU's rails are strong enough for the system I listed. Options are nice

850W Enermax Galaxy: (Active PFC) DC output +3.3V@30A, +5V @30A, +12V1 @17A +12V2@17A, +12V3@17A +12V4@17A +12V5@ 17A, -12V@0.6A, +5Vsb@6A, Total Power 850W. Peak Power 950W

PCP&C 750W Silencer: +5V @ 30A,+12V @ 60A,-12V @ 0.8A,+3.3V @ 24A,+5VSB @ 3,continuous = 750W peak = 825W

Esp like opinions on the Enermax. I really like the Enermax brand I believe they make quality. And I do respect the PCP&C reputation

I like the Enermax. I have the Liberty 620W and I have never had a problem and it's rated for 80% efficiency. The Galaxy is a very solid choice.

Thanks for the input.

I guess what I'm finding frustrating and of concern isif you go SLI even these PSU's are not strong enough.... Y or N?

Which means this is a lot of money to spend on something that cannot be used on any future upgrade whim.

either of those PSU's should handle the system easily. in fact, they should both handle 8800GTX SLI w/o issues, so your single card solution shouldn't be a problem. for the single card system, you could even get a much cheaper PSU, such as the enhance 5150gh or seasonic s12-550...

for a single 8800gtx, to be on the safe side, you'd need 30A on the +12V rail(s), which any of these PSU's have. all are high quality, so your decision should come down to price, sound, if they are modular, efficiency and appearance.

Both are plenty IMO. The Enermax 850 should handle SLI even if you want to later on. If you know absolutely you'll never go SLI then I'd say choose the cheapest of the two. The PC P&C most likely the better quality built of the two.
