there's x1900xtx in my future lol, so i need new psu:

1. quiet, quiet, quiet and quiet
2. enough to ru hardware below
3. smaller then most becasue of the case
4. cheap is good, but i will splurge 🙂
 
First of all I'm going to say this:

IF YOU CAN AFFORD AN XTX, DO NOT SKIMP ON THE PSU

This Fortron 600W unit would be excellent....4 +12V rails at 15A each, so it will be good even if you get another X1900 for Crossfire:

If you do not want to spend so much this Enermax Liberty 500W is also a good choice with dual +12V rails at 22A each:

all of them would be pretty quiet...I have the 400W version of the Fortron and its very nearly silent...
 
The new OCZ GamerXStream units are re-badged Fortron Epsilons. Might find them cheaper. Avoid if you don't like LED fans though.

500 watt Seasonic S12 > all others mentioned here.

It's a better overall PSU; although Enhance and Forton-Source are also high quality units and very reliable. It is also the quietest active (non-passive) PSU available.

It might not have the most amps, but its definetly the most powerful next-to-silent psu out there. Check out the enhance 0560g @ ewiz.
 
Heres another option to consider. 580W with a 610W burst, fully modular, absolutely silent (I have 3, all a whisper quiet).

It also comes in red/black/silver. I have 3 of these in 3 different computers now and the rails are all dead stable. Their spec is to have the 5v and 12v rails a tiny bit high (well within range), but it is rock solid at the pre-designed locations. Jonny guru puts hiper in the indigo group, which is the second highest below violet, and according to him means you can consider its power 100%. (http://jonnyguru.com/ratethebrands.html), so that means you can consider 580W to be 580W, which is not always the case with some companies. I suggest reading the jonnyguru article above.

What are you basing this on? I have one in an overclocked Opteron 170 (2667), with 2 7900 GT's, about 6 case fans, a 10k RPM Raptor and I have never ever experienced a problem with this, so I doubt the op would have a problem. Also the psu inquisitor says you can rate them at 100% rating, and he has tested tons of PS for their sustained ratings. I see you have 27k posts so I really would hope you learned to post more than one line with nothing to sustain it. care to elaborate?

Hiper is not playing in the same league as Seasonic, Enhance, and Forton-Source.
