PSTwo Receipt?

Hate to ask this, but I bought a PSTwo around April from Blockbuster and lost the receipt, the laser only reads PS/1 and CDs, will no longer read PS2 or DVDs at all.

Anyone happen to have a copy or scan of a receipt for one? And you can't claim its out of warranty because they haven't been out for a year yet. So if anyone would be willing to help, I'd appreciate it. (And note its the PSTwo not the PS2).

Goto Blockbuster and see if they can pull up a reciept for you, or if you use a CC use the statement as proof, or come up with another way, but don't commit fraud asshat.

Well the unit was brand new, all the Playstation seals were still there, and all, so I doubt it was a returned product.

I'm just really annoyed, that I used my GameRush account to sell games and my old PS/2 to get the PSTwo and they somehow don't keep receipts that long in the system. I tried calling BS on it, but they kept claiming even though it was bought on a trade account, they didn't have a receipt that far back.

OCZ John, I suggest you check the warranty on the new PSTwo, it specifically states 1 year warranty on the box and in the book.

And yeah, it really sucks that I can't find it, I'm really annoyed that Blockbuster is saying they don't have receipts that old in the system.

Hmm..I just checked and you're right. I have the regular PS2 and I knew it was 90 days so I figured it was the same.

The original PS2 was 90 days, but the new ones have 1 year.. probably because of all the headaches with the DVD drives... *glares at his PSTwo DVD drive laser*

Sony claims they can't do it without a receipt, and Blockbuster claims they can't pull receipts that old? How is 4 months that old?...

Did you pay with a CC or bank check / debit?

If you can't find proof and no one here is in a fraud mood, wny not contact Sony directly? Given the serial number it should be obvious to them it is under warranty.

Sony claims they can't do it without a receipt,
Sorry to hear that, it seems unreasonable.

Note that anyone helping you might lose their own warranty when they need it if Sony tracks receipts :(

I paid all of it but $8 with trade-ins I did at GameRush. $8 was put on my Debit/Check Card. And UMB doesn't exactly itemize, they just show it came from Blockbuster for $8. And I've already called Sony, guess I'm going to have to call them back and beg, not trying to commit fraud, sorry that so many of you seem to think thats all anyone is trying to do anymore.

most manufacturers will honour their warranties if the serial number is less than a year old. if the item shipped from them less than a year ago, then you couldn't have owned it for longer than that. And since the new PS2 hasn't been out for a year yet, they should fix it for you.
Basically tell them that regardless of whether or not there is a receipt, your unit is still under warranty and should be fixed as such.

Blockbuster is lying to you if they say they don't have a record of your purchase. AFAIK all stores are required by law to keep transactions for a minimum of 3 years.

Stefan, I called the store again today and they said they see activity on the account. And the last activity they had on my account was in February but claim they can't pull up the information. Except to show I was last active at that store in February. (Which after I thought about it, is when I bought the unit).

And yes, I called BS on it, but they argued with me all they can see was the last activity date, and can not pull up a receipt or bill of sale from then.

Keyvan,

I think I'm going to do that, call Sony up tonight and tell them I can't find the receipt, and that the unit isn't even a year old. I'm sure I can probably complain enough to a manager about it. Since they didn't come out until late Sept of last year.
