From the angle they showed on the highlights, Japan's PK was BS too.
Damn, I forgot about this from 2011, but Japan's team is much smaller than the US's, and in that world cup they flopped all over the place and got the tying goal on a set piece.
Are we watching the same highlights??? I get it if you think it shouldn't have been a PK (just outside the box, feet get tangled), but that Japanese player
DID NOT flop. Their feet just clipped each other and she went down. The English player took a dive.
Look at each players hands during/after the "penalty". The Japanese player's hands go down to cushion her unexpected fall. The English player's hands go up, flail about a bit to make it dramatic, and then "ask" the ref for a call. All this half a second after a touch to her side.
The end result is the same because they both made the PK, but the intents of the player "fouled" were drastically different! I'm not a fan of Japan or anything (and I didn't watch the game), but I'm glad England lost after that dive.
