I love this part of the essay:

These mind-bending discoveries raise more questions than they answer. For example, just because scientists know dark matter is there doesn't mean they understand what it really is. Same goes for dark energy. "If you thought the universe was hard to comprehend before," says University of Chicago astrophysicist Michael Turner, "then you'd better take some smart pills, because it's only going to get worse."

DOH!

pretty deep stuff man.....

one thing tho, won't we still be able to see all the light they're producing, no matter how far away the other galaxys and stuff get? sure the brightness will go down, but there will always be light from them there...

so are they saying then that the universe won't end with a big crunch? They have known that for years. It will continue expanding until the matter we know begins to decay and in about 10^120 years from now, there will be nothing left of the matter that we once knew. Black holes will be gone by then. I would imagine though that some form of life would learn to harness black holes for their energy some time before this happens.

That's nice, if you believe in the Big Bang theory and all...

I'm a strong believer that God made the universe, so it will end in His way and His timing, and the Bible's my final authority on that.

yeha I believe that too, but according to scientists, that is the way the universe will end or not end rather, but cease to be the universe we know

Fair enough, and isn't is great that we can live in the same country and have different beliefs and not shoot each other over it?

Thank God we don't live in Afghistain where you're beheaded for being a Christian. :D (or whatever)

Of course, I'm totally prepared to see this change, I'm sure some parts of it are not correct...

It is just the best we can do now...

Amazing that we can see back to the begining of time, isn't it?
