That was Sony's biggest problem with the PSP. Not many games really stood out. A lot of "middle-of-the-road" titles but nothing special.

Give me a new and not-stuffed-with-crappy-Top-40s-songs Lumines, and I'll buy one ASAP. The only decent Lumines port that I ever played was on the 360 :\. I played that game for hours on end on my PSP. I think my playtime was something like this...

1) Lumines
2) Lumines II
3) Mega Man: Powered Up!
4) Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X

I can still hear Iceman yelling, "Soldier down!" after failing his challenge stages so many times. There's one that I still can't beat and if you beat them all, you can play as Protoman 🙁.

I wouldnt mind an App store if the thing came with a 32gb card, standard 32gb sdhc can be had for under $40 and likely cost $3 to manufacture ($.10 in materials?).

An $40 SDHC cards costs closer to $40 to manufacture than $3. The NAND flash memory chips alone are about $30 at current spot prices. But it's not going to support SDHC cards. If we're lucky it'll support one of the Memory Stick formats, which because of Sony's licencing fees only cost about twice as the same sized SDHC card does. If it ends up being some new proprietary format it'll be even more ridiculously expensive.

Wonder if this will have a ps1 emulator in it, that would be a huge +100 for me.

It'll have the same PlayStation emulator that PSP already has.

Well it's going to have the came ecosystem that they are going to use for Android devices which will have PS1 as well as other games.

It will be a fierce battle between PSPhone and PSP 2. But also i believe Sony knows what its doing

Well because most of us don't afford to buy the 2 devices at the same time and people will chose. At the same time when the money will be for the 2nd one (assuming you already bought one) it will be out of date.
As support you just have to look on what Nintendo 3DS will have to see a true blower.

It would be neat if you could hdmi to a tv, then use a ps3 controller to play whatever game it is while system is hooked up to tv, thus being a definitive portable ps3 with a screen.

I hope so. That's why I got a PSP Go, so that I can hook it up to the dock and use my PS3 controller with it. It's not a perfect implementation, but it works well.

i posted this earlier

This is what would make me wanna buy the PSP2:

-since it is "as powerful as a PS3", i would like it to have an HDMI out to hook up to my big screen.
-it already has bluetooth connectivity, so i would like to use SIXAXIS controllers on it.

so then you would essentially have a portable PS3, that you can play at home one the big screen and on the go.

Maybe I'm in the minority about this, as this is the same concept as the SEGA nomad. And i would have killed for one when i was 5.

so apparently im NOT in the minority. Hopefully sony thinks like us, because this would be awesome.

Is there any word on it having any PS2 ports? IDK if an emulator would be even remotely possible but that would be AWESOME.

Really liking what I'm seeing. Please don't be $500. 🙂

Joystiq is guessing $300. Sony will probably price it very aggressively. They're not using exotic hardware this time around. With the 3DS not selling too well, especially in Japan, Sony could really use a major coup against Nintendo. Rumour has it they're ditching internal storage for lower price. That could very well push it below $300. Bad move IMO though. That was one of the major problems with the original PSP. I'm hoping that will just be a budget model.

I don't think that'd be a terrible idea depending on what the games are on (meaning, as long as its something that can keep load times down, it won't be crippling like say the original 360). They should be able to sell one that has internal storage for extra.

This is looking really good though. Since I don't have much faith that Nintendo's next system will wow (I doubt the handheld part will be as good as the PSP to be honest, I doubt they'll be using OLED displays for instance), I think it could be the most compelling hardware for a while, at least until the next Xbox and/or PS4, and even then, it should still be pretty good.

If Sony hits $300 or below at launch, and can at least match the original PSP battery life (hopefully exceed both it and the 3DS), I think it'll be great. I'd take that gorgeous OLED over the 3DS' 3D display, and the NGP has more processing power and better touch setup. Stuff like possibly getting Android apps and cross platform with the PS3 are just extra bonuses.
