The newest custom firmware 3.02 OE-B lets you play ANY playstation game on your psp. You can convert your (legally purchased and owned) ps1 game into an image file and play it on your psp now. However, you do need a downgradeable psp first. Anything below 2.80 can be downgraded to 1.50 and then flashed with 3.02 OE-B.

Sweet Jebus!!!! I got the 3.2 running on mine now, I am googling all over this like a mother for I have a crap load of old psone games I been holding onto forever, it would be the sh!t to run all my old psone games on the psp :D:D:D:D

Damn that opens up over 7000 playstaion games to run on the psp

If you upgraded using the official Sony Update Eboots then you won't be able to rip your own games. This hack is only for the custom 3.02OE-B firmware made by Dark_Alex. Pspupdates.com and Psphacks.com for more info.

Yup, Im pissed. Never bothered doing a firmware upgrade, decided what the hell, find this thread and the psp stuff thinking kick ass and find out I have to wait for someone to come out with a way around the newest firmware I have now so I can do it. Damn, why did I do it :(

I donno, I like my PSP over my NDS, but that's just my opinion and I've voiced that quite often :p.

Just be wary of Lumines II if you like Lumines... the horrid TRL-esque music in the game makes it nearly unbearable. I swear I will NEVER play B-mode again so I don't have to listen to Gwen Steffani sing "Holla Back Girl" anymore.

I see all this mentioning of the TA-### for the PSP... how do you figure out which one you have? I checked my PSP settings and didn't find anything. I upgraded mine to 2.8 'cause I just buy my games, but now I'm a bit interested in putting my already purchased games onto a memory stick (a little tired of lugging around the two psp-sized cases full of games :/)

Hmm I see no text on the right but I can't actually read the text on the left... I wonder which one it is

Pretty much everything up till PS1 (but include PS1...). N64 is emulated but runs too slow to be much fun.

Aikouka, can you take a pic of the area and post it up?

PSX, N64 (quite slow), SNES, NES, GB, GBA, Genesis, MS, GG, Spectrum, Amiga, Amstrad, C64, NeoGeo, SCUMM, etc... there are loads.

If you get a PSP with firmware >2.80 it can't do any of that (for now).

PSX (Limited titles)
SNES (Limited titles run full speed, most games run at acceptable rates, some are too slow to play)
NES (Full speed all games)
Genesis (Most games are full speed)
TG-16 (Full speed)
GBA (Most games that are supported are full speed or nearly so. A fair number do not work properly)
GBC/GB (Full speed, near 100% support)
Neo-Geo (Compatability is complicated, but most of the games a person would want to play are supported and working OK)
CPS (Almost all games are full speed)
CPS2 (Like Neo-Geo, compatability is complicated. Some games are full speed, most are not)
SCUMM (It's an interpreter, not an emulator, but it lets you play Sam and Max, Maniac Mansion, a couple of Indiana Jones games, etc.)

And that list is just a 'greatest hits' version. Check out psp-news.dcemu.co.uk to see what all systems there are emulators for.

Well, the coder who was working on the N64 emulator suddenly disappeared. No one knows what happened to him. :( He was making good progress too.

Yeah, weird that. I was never into N64 though, so I'm not too bothered. :p

I would if my brother didn't busticate my camera :(.

I think it's this:

If the code "IC6001" appears on the left (blue circle on photo), and there is NOTHING on the right, you have a TA-081 motherboard, and you WILL be able to use the modchip.

Because I do have text only on the left and I see that the wording starts with a line and ends with a line and seems to have shapes that look like a C600 in the middle. Note that I can only see the top of them.

Actually I just took another look and the tutorial doesn't mention it, but you need to turn the PSP upside-down. Then I can make out IC6001 :).

You should be able to downgrade then IIRC. I'm not much help since I haven't downgraded anything since the 2.0 days. :Q

Any PSP (<=fw2.8) is downgradable now. Doesn't matter if it's a TA-082, etc. You just need to know which model you've got so you can use the appropriate downgrader.

Woo, got it downgraded to 1.5! Now I just need to get that 3.0-ish emulator thingy-ma-bob on it and I'm good to go :).

EDIT: Just to make sure I don't install what I don't really want. Is this what I want to install?

"Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-A"

I'm downloading the fixed easy installer for it right now :).

That's the one. I've never used an "easy installer" though. It seems easy enough to install as it is and I'd rather use the original files from the source (Dark_AleX).

Well, I got it from this website, which is also where I got the downgrader:

EDIT: I removed the link because the software is junk and doesn't even work. My PSP's drive letter is 'I', I enter that and it tells me invalid drive letter. I'll just do it all manually.

EDIT 2: Actually, it does work.. I'm just an idiot and I forgot the colon after 'I'. You'd think the extra 2 lines of code to check for a colon wouldn't have been hard.

I say just use the official 3.03OE file and download firmwares 1.5 + 3.03. Then just follow the readme.
