PSP worth buying?

I saw the PSP and actually held it for the first time today. After the Gameboy Advance SP, I lost interest in portable gaming. But after I saw the PSP today, I have to say I am impressed. Now that I am considering buying it, I have to ask is it worth the few hundred dollar investment? $250 for the system, $150 for 3 games, $50 for maybe a screen protector and some game cases. The games I were looking at were GTA: Liberty City, Tony Hawk Underground 2, and a racing game, maybe Ridge Racer. Any other suggestions?

it depends where ur gonna use it... if ur just gonna sit at home and play it, its a waste. But if u have an office job, or a job were u have a lot of free time, i would buy it.. 🙂 ... also, if u go on alot of plane/bus trips, it always helps...

I want one too. I think it would be great for me because I ride the train to and from work, which is a 50 minute trip each way. Too expensive though.

on the upside, mario kart DS comes out monday and is getting RAVE reviews, online mario kart BOOOYA

Buy it. There are a lot of good games out there and more comming soon. GTA:LCS kicks serious ass and Socom online will be my next purchase. Plus there's all the homebrew and emus. Just don't upgrade past 2.0.

I use mine everyday. I have converted all of my movies to MPEG4 so I can transfer them to the PSP and watch them at work. I surf the web when sitting on the porch. Listen to MP3s during comute. Carry family pics and game form time to time.

If you're going to use it to play games, sure, it's great. If you're going to use it to do other things, no because there are things that do the job better without being so big.

It's a nice little toy, but very expensive all things considered. If you want something to play games on, get a PS2/3/XBOX/whatever. If you want something to play games on when traveling and have cash to burn, go with the PSP.

don't buy a brand new one. go to craigslist or fs/ft.

I was hesitant to buy one, but got a deal off CL. play it all the time on the bus, breaks at work, and while the wife is doing school work or watching some old movie I have no interest in.

As far as games being a money drain, there are obvious ways to avoid that. Same with movies, etc etc etc.

All you need is the unit, a big mem stick, and broadband and you're set.

As mentioned, don't go above f/w version 2.0 (another reason to buy used, you can verify). Nothing above 2.0 has been "cracked" yet as far as being able to use homebrew and emulators.

I <3 mine and can't get enough Tiger Woods '06.

You'll probably have more fun with a NDS and MK😀S. I've been playing it for the last couple days and it rocks!

Looks like a neat gadget but the only place I would play it is at home and I ain't playing video games at home on a little handheld. 😛
