PSP vs iPod vs Creative Zen Micro

I decided that I want a portable music player, mainly for the gym. So I was looking at the Creative Zen Micro 8GB as it is about the same price as the iPod Nano 4GB, while offering double the space. I'm not an iPod whore or anything, so I don't really have bias towards them or any other brand.

Then I thought...hmm if I'm spending close to $300CDN, might as well pay around $60 more and get the iPod Video 30GB, atleast I can watch videos when I'm doing cardio on the eliptical machine. But then as I was lamenting the small screen size of the iPod Video (can you actually watch something on a screen that small??) someone mentioned why not look into the PSP. It has a much better screen, can play music, and has extendable storage, and is signficantly cheaper than the iPod Video 30GB.

However, my main concerns are, how can you carry it when you are at the gym, it seems kinda big. It's fine when you are doing cardio on a machine, but if you are doing weights and moving around a lot between stations it may get damaged.

Also I don't play games that much so I wouldnt use it to full potential.

I really need to play with an iPod Video and watch videos on it to see how it is. Are there any other devices that are comparable?

What do you guys suggest? Thanks

Yea I wouldn't go with the PSP unless you want to lug around an awkward object while lifting, chances are it would get broken, don't know about the Ipod video but I have heard the they do just fine screen wise. The question you need to ask is if you would be on the cardio machines and others long enough to use the video to its full potential.

The PSP is great and all, but the pro-duo cards that are for it only really go up to 2gb. You can get a 4gb harddrive addon but that just makes it even more bulky. If you are really set on video then get the Ipod video, but if you want games and a video or two get the PSP.

Thanks for the inputs. I'm not much of a gamer and I doubt I would play games on it anyway. As for videos, I imagine I would watch shows such as Lost, 24, Arrested Development, etc.. on it. It would also be a gadget factor as well.

Your looking for an MP3 player for the gym and you mention the PSP? You going to strap it to your arm? You must never want to get laid.

naw, attach to headband if you want to be sony stylin:) psp is more a gadget for novelty than practical. 12yr olds don't count since they'll put up with a lot since they don't have any money

iPod. I have both devices and the PSP blows as a mp3 player. Flat out blows. It's even worse if you don't have the remote since you have to lug the thing around and press the buttons, etc. It's like carrying a brick in your pocket - worse than a first-gen mp3 player. The Japanese have it all figured out, since they have to listen to music in crowded trains. PSP or DS for games, iPod for mp3, phone for phone. Leave everything separate, don't mix them up.

buy a psp, comes with a 1gb memory stick

put 1gb memory stick in the phone, use that for the gym
put the 64mb in the psp untill they fix the damn firmware so I can play emulators

Zen Micro, it's alot smaller and it has replaceable batteries. I also think it looks cooler or at least as cool as the iPod, unless you get some retarded color. If you look around, you could get a pretty good deal on it unlike iPods which are never on sale

and they would be? Some of Sony's devices look good; the ones with that fancy OLED screen that looks like its floating over the plastics.

I have a Philips GoGear 6gb mp3 player, it's nicely small, and you can Drag-n-drop using Explorer to put music on it. I'm thinking of moving to an iPod Video 30gb though, a friend of mine at work has one, and the screen is pretty good. 2.5" or so, but very nice color and easy to watch in places I can't setup my laptop. No ghosting that I can see, either.

What does that mean exactly? Videos on the iPod only play at a max of 15fps? Or only videos that are encoded by your specific software?
