PSP V2.0 coming soon

No thanks. I'll stick with my 1.5 and homebrews. Ability to use emulators is greater than any new feature Sony can add to the firmware. If and when hackers crack V2.0, I'll upgrade. Now if I had 1.51 or 1.52V, then sure I would upgrade.

would;nt this kill all the hacks?

Would;nt? And maybe so, at least until someone cracks this firmware

They still haven't cracked 1.51 or 1.52. They probably will crack it given enough time but nothing is certain. Hacks only work on 1.5 or below.

wait, so when you guys say the PSP was cracked, that means it can play bootlegs? how's that even possible, don't these things use proprietary media? (i'd imagine emulators/roms can be put on the memory stick, but wouldn't psp games be too huge for that?)

just curious, i don't keep up with this stuff these days...

There are loaders you can use to play UMD image games. Most games are not that big and will easily fit on 1gig card. But I don't care about UMD games or recent games. Sony still has to make money and I respect that. Plus the hassle of switching memory cards or erasing your card everytime you want to play new game is not worth the time or the hassle. Plus I don't care about new games. It's all about old school games and emulators.

Because of PSP and emulators, I've finally got my portable NES and SNES wish and finally retired my Sega Nomad and Neo Geo Pocket. I'm replaying all my favorite NES, SNES, Genesis, and TurboGrax 16 games on a portable handheld. Not to mention replaying Doom. My computer back in college was too crappy to run Doom correctly. PSP does it flawlessly. I'm in retrogaming heaven now playing Puyo Puyo, Tetris Attack, Gunstar Heroes, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Ninja Spirit, Madden 93, Raiden, and etc. So many great classic games. Luckily it's portable and I can play anywhere.
