Apparently they're doing pretty well... To bad they suck compared to DVD quality. I take that back... they're decent I'm just pissed you cant watch them in a bigger format.

why buy a umd movie to watch only on a small screen when you can hve a dvd movie that plays on a vareity of hardware like your dvd player hooked up to a bigscreen as well as a portable lcd dvd player?

I don't think I'd ever buy a movie on UMD. I'd rather buy it on DVD, then rip it to watch on the PSP.

Not as painful as coughing up another $15 for your favorite movies. :)

for travelers who game, there is no substitute to the psp and likewise, if you want to watch a movie - it's gonna be on umd. i'm not wasting my time burning movies to a memory stick, which will prob only hold 1 movie anyway. $20 might be steep compared to regular dvds, but personally i'm more than willing to shell out the dough.

just like betamax, that sony music format(with that 1 net walkman dap that supported that format only), the wirthkess siny only overpriced memory stick(comparable sd cards, cf cards, even smartmedia cards and xd cards cost less for comparable storage), and the insaine DRM restrictions(hopefully so my damn hdtv will paly high def content[component only])
