PSP Firmware Update

i have a japanese PSP with firmware version 3.03. i'd like to put a US firmware on it. can anyone please tell me how to do it and if its possible? thanks

Either:

1. Download the official firmware update EBOOT, transfer to the PSP/game/whatever/ folder and run it from XMB. Region of the update file doesn't matter; all regions will work for all PSPs.

2. Update via internet through wi-fi with "Network Update" in XMB.

hey thanks for the reply but can u explain in more noobish terms? i've never previously owned one before.

Well, there shouldn't be any problems as I'd never heard of any stories about people bricking their PSP due to different region firmwares.

Here's a quote from Guide Vault, http://www.psp-vault.com/modul...ges-display-pid-14.psp.
"Please note that there is no difference in firmware versions from region to region. There is no such thing as a "Japanese version," "American Version," or "European Version" of the firmwares. Downloading a firmware update from another region is perfectly fine, but please note Sony says installing a foreign version will void your warranty. Not that they would be able to find out."

Anyway, I suggest you to consider about upgrading to custom firmwares as it'll offer basically everything that you want.

That error indicates that you already have custom firmware installed (DA = Dark_AleX). He prevented official firmware updates from being executed on CFW as it can cause problems (brick?).

Just grab the latest M33 firmware (3.52M33 + -4 update) from PSPUpdates and follow the install.txt (something like that) that should come with it. You'll also need the official 1.5 & 3.52 update PBPs (also available on pspupdates).

Password is "_DANIEL_SERAFIN_BRICKED_HIS_ASS_BY_M33_" (don't ask 😛).

There's a readme.en in the 3.52M33 zip.

Edit: If you want a guide, there's one on the QJ forums: http://forums.qj.net/f-guides-...m-firmware-114299.html

it says to "Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME150/' on your PSP's
memory stick."

but i don't have a "Game150" folder inside of my psp folder, am i supposed to just create it?

i DO, however have a "GAME" folder with another "UPDATE" folder inside and an "EBOOT.PBP" file inside

Yeah, just create it manually.
