Sweet! A Wipeout HD demo, I'm definitely downloading it. $20 is too much for me to pay for the game and possibly not like it.

I'm not sure why they wait months after a release to put up a free demo. Why not just do it a couple of weeks later considering all those that wanted to buy it already have and those that were waiting for a demo would've forgotten about it by now?

SONY != SMART

I don't remember where I read the article but, a Sony exec said in an interview not too long ago that they see better sales from titles that only have videos and screenshots available than from titles that have demos available.

The thought basically being, the consumer tries a demo and and decides that they either don't like the game or the demo satisfies their desire to play the game enough and they end up not purchasing the game.

Well, can't argue with research. But if people are easily fooled by pretty pictures and videos, then they deserve what they get.

It's nice they finally have a US WipEout HD demo. I just went ahead and grabbed it from the UK PSN Store a while back. And no, I haven't purchased it yet, but I definitely would never purchase it without ever playing a demo.

Ya, putting out a demo is such a gamble. You'll either turn people off previous hype and cause them to not buy it when they originally would have, or you really impress people and end up with more sales simply because you put out the demo.
