So I've been out of town for the last week or so, and upon returning home I notice several random, suspicious charges on my Discover card, each for $10, from "Playstation Network", all of them coming within the last week, totaling $70 of Wallet Funds.
Checking my email, I notice an email from Playstation Network saying my account email has been changed, and if I did not request this, contact customer support (generic link to Sony support FAQ enclosed).
Immediately, I log onto my PS4 and uncouple my Discover card from the account. Looking at my transaction history, the hacker's email is in the top right of the screen (aznisa128727@yahoo.com), but the fool apparently didn't bother changing my password, so I was able to log back in, and quickly change my email to a different one, change the password, and add all of the 2way authentication and everything.
He also, oddly, didn't bother to spend any of the wallet funds he'd purchased.
So now I'm in something of a bind. I've got $70 in PSN Funds or whatever you call them that were purchased by my card by someone who clearly hacked my account (I even have the guy's email), and they are unspent. What's the best course of action? I've heard horror stories about Sony in these circumstances, and disputing the charge with Discover I've read can/will lead to Sony banning my account, something I'd also like to avoid,
I'm calling Sony tomorrow and seeing what they can do, but since they operate by PST, I'll likely have to wait until sometime in the evening before I can reach an actual human being.
Has anyone had to go through this before? Anything in particular I should say? I'm hopeful they'll be able to see that those wallet fund purchases came from a different PS4 altogether, in what will very likely be another state or country. Is that enough?
Just would love to hear some insight from anyone who has been through anything like this.
If worse comes to worse, at least the bastard didn't actually redeem the $70, so I suppose I could save it for purchases down the line, but I'd obviously rather have the charges off my card...
