Pseudo GF2 Pro or Radeon 64?

Hey all, looking to spend about $150 (not a hard limit)--Am I better off with an MSI or LeadTek pseudo Pro or a Radeon 64...Am I foolish not to throw the KyroII in the mix? I've got a 1.0Ghz Tbird with 256MB Ram....2D Linux support is a requirement as well. I only have a 17" monitor at the moment. I hope to upgrade to a 19 or 21" soon, but I doubt I would take it any higher 1152X864, since that's what I'm used to on my development machine.

Thanks,

I just replaced my Leadtek Geforce2 Pro w/ 5.5ns memory with a Radeon 64mb VIVO and I don't regret it. With the Radeon the colors look crisper and sharper at higher resoultions. I got the retail verison from Newegg and it ended up being a Radeon SE.

Pardon me for asking, but what's a Radeon SE? I've heard of the low end VEs, but not SE...is it better? I was looking at new egg too...kinda figured I'd go retail instead of OEM for $4 if I went that route...should I not?

Thanks!

kyro II doesnt have linux drivers at the time, so thats out of the question (for now). The geforce2 pro has excellent linux drivers, but I am unaware of the performance of the Radeon linux drivers at this time. The Geforce2 pro will beat the Radeon in most, if not all benchmarks, by a susbstantial amount in 16 bit colour and to a lesser extent in 32 bit colour. But as sean pointed out, the radeon has better 2d quality, so if youre going to be running linux at those monstrous resolutions, you'll have to consider that as well
unfortunately, i know nothing of the Radeon SE as well, and was hoping someone could fill me in on that

SE= 198/198 core/mem speed...instead of the previous 183/183 for retail 64MB

So, I've decided (based mainly on Linux support) to go with a GF2 Pro...should I go MSI or LeadTek (newegg) or PowerColor (Monarch)

Thanks,
