So in light of the kid who called a hitman to murder his mum, the declining values of USD, mechanical and mental retardation of DVR's, and that other thread...such news has been overlooked.

Got an email from Zune yesterday...can't wait!

For the $86 I paid, it's a great device... the software sucks as much as itunes, but maybe they'll make it better....

negative, the software sucks much more than iTunes, and I'm far from an iTunes supporter. GF just got a Zune off Woot, I'm totally perplexed that theres no third party software to allow you to sync it. I like her Zune, but the software is one of the biggest peices of shit I've ever used.

I'm sure all three of the Zune owners that frequent AT appreciate the great public service that you've done by posting this notification. Good job!

Your elitism is showing.

As far as a portable media player goes, it's in the A class. For < $100, you can't go wrong.

(and no, I' haven't ever found another Zune via wireless to share with) :(

Wait until after November 13th to make your decision. The Zune software was completely rebuilt instead of being an altered version of Urge (which is what it is now).

I did once, on a bus here at school. He was apparently watching The Boondocks.

See, I turn off my wireless and occasionally turn it on in large public gatherings to see if anyone else has their wireless turned on.

And it's definitely a class A device, even at full price. I personally don't mind the Zune software so much, mostly due to the fact I am very used to Windows Media Player. I am, however, looking forward to the new software. A screenshot made it look like its a more capable version.

the store itself is an altered version of Urge, while the player and transfer software is based on WMP11, IIRC.

Yeah, you're right about the Urge thing. My bad.

The new software looks really nice though in the screenshots that are out there. I've never had any problems with the current software though. *shrugs shoulders*

I also haven't had any problems with the zune software. I think it could be improved, but it works good enough. The main advantage that the zune software has over iTunes for me is that you can point to a folder and it adds all the music you drop into that folder. I hate having to go in and manually add folders in iTunes constantly.

I can't wait for the new Zunes and new software. I've already got a 30, but will probably get an 80 GB zune since I have about 52 GB of music right now.

That's not bad. I'm used to WMP so it doesn't look like I'd mind that much. And if they're improving it then all the better.

Because, for whatever reason, nobody wants a brown zune... even at significantly below retail they sell in the 10-15% range of total sales.

Basically, anyone you see with a brown zune is a cheap bastard (or one might say, someone to whom price is a more dterminant variable than appearance).

I updated this morning and really like it so far. Didn't have any problems whatsoever. Installed it over the old software and it went flawlessly.

I really like the new software/firmware. The software is MUCH more responsive and looks a lot better.

THere are better posts about this in the proper forums, though...
