Just a friendly reminder. If you come upon a Yield Sign, and there is no traffic, there is no reason to come to a complete stop and slow down traffic. Thank you for your cooperation.

What I hate are drivers who don't slow down or stop when THERE is traffic. They fly right through and expect traffic to yield to them and everyone behind has to slam on their brakes.

As much as the dmv likes to stress over-cautiousness, often times they over do it.
This is one of those examples. People come to a complete stop at these things thinking it's the right thing to do, but if someone is coming up from behind who is following the actual rules, a rear-ending is bound to happen.

We should really have mostly Yield signs, and very few Stop signs. However, most people are too retarded to handle quick decisions, so we are left with Stop signs.

No cross-traffic.

The traffic that you'd slow down is the traffic behind you.

you should pay attention to the person in front of you so you don't hit them

I'll add:
Green right arrow = GO

I can't believe all the idiots who sit there or stop like it's a right on red.

Yield signs are really only appropriate when merging. I guess if you were in the middle of nowhere and you were surrounded by open fields so you could clearly see the cars coming from both directions a yield sign might work at an intersection.

Maybe they're yielding to the traffic behind them?

Or possibly yielding to the yield sign because it has right of way?

I hate people who stop at red lights when they're going to turn right and there's no traffic anyway. Just do a right turn on red!

you all misinterpret the intentions of the dept of transportation...

no-one ever made it a goal that you get somewhere speedily... only safely.

you can never have too much saftey.

The purpose of a yeild sign is "slow down and proceed with caution" not "look and if no-one is coming, proceed without slowing down"

Vehicles have blind spots, and merging is not an easy thing to do.

Same thing with a stop sign.

Like all traffic laws, it's only illegal it you get caught.

So if there are no cops around and no cross-traffic in sight, everyone should blow through those stops signs as if they were yield signs. It is of the utmost importance for the person behind you to always reach his/her destination 3 seconds quicker.

You're not running a red light if you're making a legal right turn . Also, how would you even be affected if there's no traffic? You're kind of supposed to treat the right turn on red idea like a yield sign, where if you'll obstruct traffic, you don't go. The way it sounds, you dislike people who abuse right turn on red :p.
