PSA: Xbox modders, never, EVER use a Seagate Cuda IV

This post presented in Easy-to-ADD-Hey-Look-Skittles format for the benefit of you Ritalin-popping monkeys.

Put 40GB Seagate in Xbox.
FRAGed in under five minutes FTPing.
Removed drive, burned hand on metal.
Needed ointment.
Drive testing OK in PC.
Xbox OK with previous drive.
Hand hurts.
No pics.

So, the Xbox sucks huh?

No, it kicks ass. However, the 160GB in my FS/T post may not be for sale unless I can find a suitably cool running smaller replacement.

If it can't take a lil 40GB drive... 😛

I haven't found a worthwhile game for the Xbox yet...

You obviously have no idea of the heat output of the Seagate Cuda IV. 😛

You are correct. My seagates don't seem to be too hot, although maybe when I have 2 200GBers in one machine it'll cause issues...

Maxtors or Hitachis. I still have the OEM drive in there. I've yet to replace it with something bigger. I don't warez games that's why. Mainly use it for watching .avi and .mpeg files.

I have a Cuda IV. It doesn't seem all that hot to me.

Then again, there's ample space in my chasis.

Precisely. Slam that little spaceheater into an Xbox and watch the temps skyrocket. :Q

For those who don't know, it's a 7200rpm drive, not 10K.

Oh, and Nocturnal - it's not the game, you just suck. 😉

Ninja Gaiden is definitely an awesome game, and so is Burnout 3. Can't forget Ghost Recon, and right now I'm in the middle of testing Crimson Skies. Will get back to you guys on that one.

Feel better M4H

Oh, I'm fine. So's all the hardware - the Cuda just came back with full marks from Seatools. 🙂
