According to Major Nelson's latest podcast, there's some downtime coming to Xbox Live tomorrow for up to 24 hours for scheduled maintainence.

The maintainence will not result in a dashboard update, that's coming in a few more weeks from now.

This is probably one of those updates to set everything up for the big update like they had last time.

I heard a rumor that they are going to add DiVx/Xvid support since they are also adding on other MPEG4 standards support (VC-1, h.264) as part of getting 360s ready for the HD-DVD drive. That is one rumor I pray comes true. Transcode360 is nice but full support of DiVx and Xvid is what is needed.

I will sacrifice a red-headed virgin to Microsoft if they add DivX/XviD support. I love the Media Connect functionality that's already in there for music and pictures, MPEG4 video support would top it off beautifully.

well with this 360 firmware mod you can't really run unsigned code, so i guess the only reason they would bother to ban is because of piracy

well with this 360 firmware mod you can't really run unsigned code, so i guess the only reason they would bother to ban is because of piracy

Yeah, I mean mod as in one of the modchips out there, not firmware flashing.

Something in the XBL EULA says they'll can your ass for running modified (unsigned) code, but nothing to the effect of piracy=ban.

But piracy=bad anyways, because it'll make it harder for people to get other, non-pirate unsigned code to run. Like XB360MC. /crosses fingers

XVID would be nice, but they need to also support .img and .iso for me to convert from XMBC

that would be one hell of a powerful media center, my XBMC is still running awesome. i actually helped a few friends get old XBOX's these past few months just to have XBMC setup to view movies they have on their PC via wireless network share. they're loving it.

dude, no matter what I do, i can't get windows media connect to work with my 360. I've tried the forums and nothing. I have no idea what to do. My computer used to recognize my xbox 360, but my 360 couldn't see my computer. then i decided to reinstall windows, now none of them can see the other
