Wow. Relax... *Lifts Cap'n&Coke*

One of the "trick" questions led to the offer.

There is a candy dish in each interview room. One manager likes to ask candidates, "Without using your hands, how would you get that candy dish off the table."

Said candidate's response was (in a husky voice), "Well, I would use my mouth. Or other body parts. I'll let you use your imagination..." and it went on from there. We were stunned.

So what is the "right" answer?

There really isn't one. It's all about thinking about a brand new problem without having any time to prepare. The thought process and the way the problem is solved is what we're looking for.

How would you respond if I said "I'd ask you to pick it up for me"? ;)

Got that one.

what type of answer would you be looking for?

that is a really dumb question. I might have to answer something like "I'D JUMP UP ON THE DESK AND KICK IT INTO YOUR FRICKEN HEAD" or something.

I agree. that really is a dumb question unless you work for a candy store

Ummm forearms aren't hands and I'd think lifting a bowl with them would be quite easy...

I'd have slipped the girl a piece of paper with my number on it as I escorted her out! :p

LOL, I have to ask... was it a guy?

Nope. She was pretty cute too... I suggested opening a position: Office Bicycle

:D

Oh so all the guys could ride her.

That's better than the town pump. :D

Exactly why the guy asks it, you're not expecting such a stupid question so it throws you off and really gives a person insight on how you handle yourself in a tricky situation.

I went in for an interview, the boss asked me a weird question: "Tell me all the steps you would do when brushing your teeth in the morning" that really threw me off. IT consultant position btw.
