PSA: Weird iTunes bug

For anyone interested...I found an extremely odd bug in iTunes that causes music to not play. The problem occurs when, I remote desktop into a machine at my home (we'll call this machine Lunchbox). From lunchbox, I do a simple open of a shared hard drive on another computer on my home network (we'll call this one poptart). So basically I remote desktop into lunchbox, then from lunchbox I read music on poptart. I do this so I can listen to music at work. Now the music from poptart that is being played on lunchbox is opened in windows media player. My main rig at home is poptart...on which I use itunes. The problem is when I now go to play anything on poptart in itunes that has been played on lunchbox via the remote desktop connection it will no longer play at all in itunes. When I select the file in iTunes the artwork section says "Album Artwork is Not Modifiable". So if I've played 2 songs from an album while at work they will no longer play while the rest of the album will work. I tried doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of itunes/quicktime and that did nothing. Also the files that won't play in iTunes on poptart will play fine in winamp, wmp, etc.... If someone has a solution I'd gladly try. If not, it's more of PSA letting people know that doing something like this might screw up itunes.

Maybe a stupid question, but are the playlist entries for the unplayable files checked in iTunes?

Not sure exactly what you mean by this question. The checkboxes next to all the files are checked.

No, that's what I mean. The album artwork message is related to multiple files being selected, I believe.

Is there any error when you try to play the files, or do they just not play? Under what conditions do they not play? Only when WMP is open on lunchbox and playing the shared files?

Have you checked permission on all the relevant files to make sure that wmp isn't changing them? Enable the viewing of hidden files too, as I believe that's where wmp keeps its album art.

follow up question - is it possible to Remote Desktop to that home PC if that PC is behind a router and has Zone Alarm running?

I get that message for album art when just a single file is selected. They won't play at all in iTunes on poptart even if lunchbox is powered down. There is no situation in which they will play in iTunes any longer on poptart.

Yep, checked all the permissions. Everything for the un-playable files is identical to the playable files.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. I don't have Zone Alarm or any other 'firewall' software running (including Windows Firewall). If I did have those firewall programs I know for sure that you can allow the valid traffic through.
